The Arts at M.S. 180
Our Arts program inspires creativity, self-expression, and confidence. Through visual arts, music, and performance, students explore their talents, think creatively, and share their unique voices with the world.
The Band program builds musical skills, teamwork, and discipline through performance and practice. Students develop technique, confidence, and a strong appreciation for music while working together as an ensemble.
The Chorus program develops vocal technique, musical literacy, and confidence through group singing. Students learn to work together while expressing themselves through music and performance.
Cinematic arts invite students into the world of storytelling through film, sound, and visual design. From concept to final cut, students bring stories to life while developing creativity, technical skills, and artistic vision.
Our Dance program teaches technique, rhythm, and self-expression while fostering creativity, confidence, and teamwork through a variety of styles and performances.
The Orchestra program develops musical skills, collaboration, and discipline as students perform together in a full ensemble, bringing classical and contemporary music to life.
The Visual Arts program encourages creativity and self-expression through drawing, painting, sculpture, and design, helping students develop technical skills and artistic confidence.
Arts Department
Our school offers a vibrant and inclusive arts program designed to inspire creativity and confidence in every student. Students can explore Band, Chorus, Orchestra, Dance, Cinematic Arts, and Visual Arts, with opportunities to discover new talents and grow existing ones—no prior experience required. Our Band, Choir, and Orchestra proudly participate in the NYSSMA competition each year, consistently earning Gold and Silver ratings for their excellence. Through performance, collaboration, and artistic exploration, students build strong foundations that prepare them for future success. Graduates of our arts programs have gone on to attend top New York City arts high schools, including Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music, Professional Performing Arts School, Talent Unlimited, and LaGuardia High School, reflecting the strength and impact of our arts education.
